All Traders,
No Penrith Saturday Market 6th August. - INSTEAD WIGTON ON SATURDAY 6th AUGUST!!
It will soon be that time of year again when Penrith Saturday Market cannot operate due to “Pot Fest” being held on the same site. Yes, I know, it would have been good having the two events running side by side and therfore be a greater attraction to the site but, never mind, some people can be small minded at times?!
However, we will operate on Wigton Auction Mart, on 6th August, instead and as many of you know we have operated a Friday Market there for the last 14 years and it has always been a very popular and steady market throughout these years, pulling punters in from not only Wigton but Carlisle, Silloth, Aspatria, Dalston and various other surrounding areas.
Travel
Travelling from the South use M6 Junction 41 ( Only one junction form Penrith) then follow the signs to Wigton, half an hours travel. The road is fairly straight, however there are a few “hidden dips” so be carefull!, before arriving at the Town Centre Auction Mart. From the North / Scotland it is Junction 44 of the M6 which takes you through Carlisle on the A595 heading for West Cumbria where you will pick up the signs for Wigton. Sat Nav CA7 9PG.
Promotion
The usual “Wigton Friday Bus” will also run on Saturday picking up along the way, (3 routes), from, Carlisle, Aspatria and Silloth. Also the usual Penrith Saturday Bus will be running, picking up from around Penrith town centre, to Wigton. Signage and leaflets promoting the market, and free buses, to the public have been displayed and distributed and will continue to be right up to the 6th August.
Allocation
We will allocate the outdoor traders/carbooters casual queue from 6.30a.m., in the usual way by a first come first served basis, however any Friday traders wishing to stay over for the Saturday can remain on their pitches. The layout will require to be altered slightly on the Friday to allow for more space availability on the Saturday for that week only.
Any traders/carbooters wishing to trade indoors will be allocated the same procedure as above, but allocation will commence at 5.30a.m., giving traders enough time to unload their vehicles prior to the allocation of the outdoor traders. Indoor pennage areas are also available with some smaller areas for pitches.
All rents are on the same basis as Penrith, however larger pitches may be restricted in size to a maximum of 26ft for the Saturday casuals only. Car Booters will be charged £5-00.
Regards
