Hawick lies some 39 miles South of Edinburgh and 43 miles North of Carlisle on the M6 Junction 44, along the A7. So it is ideally situated for traders from both Scotland and England.
The market is held on Saturdays throughout the year with the exception of two Saturdays in early June when the Common Riding takes place. The Market moves to Teviot Crescent next to Summerfield for the 2weeks during this event (to be confirmed). The opening hours of this market are 10am to 4pm.
To obtain a trading position, simply turn up, as early as possible, to the market site and join that days casual queue. Empty pitches will be allocated by the market superintendent on duty on a first come, first served basis. Our staff will be on site at least 3 hours prior to the opening hours of the market. Historically Hawick has always been a very busy and popular area for the knitwear and woollen mill industry, which lies along the famous river Tweed and lies on one of the main tourist routes.
